Platinum Guild International (PGI) welcomed more than 90 guests to their Platinum Experience on September 3 to announce the winners of the first three prizes in this year’s Platinum Trail.
Three awards were presented at IJL: Most Commercially Appealing Design, Most Inspirational Design and the inaugural Consumer’s Choice Award.
The Most Commercially Appealing Design award was won by Emdico, the first time they have won an award in the Platinum Trail. Sanjay Khandelwal collected the award for the Trinity Collection which was described by judges as ‘fashionable and timely’.
Highly commended in the same category was Brown & Newirth’s Three Graces tri-set which pleased the judges with its contemporary take on a classic design.
The Most Inspirational Design was won by Stuart Moore, a newcomer to IJL, for his Suspension tri-set. The striking design, which has already proved a huge success in the US, makes use of Stuart’s engineering background to produce jewellery of the highest quality.
Sarah Jordan received commendation in the Most Inspirational Design category for her Freya tri-set. Sarah commented that this year her designs ‘experiment with a new direction’, bringing more linear lines to her smooth and organic style.
The final prize to be awarded on the night was for the Consumer’s Choice Award. Voted for by readers of You & Your Wedding, the award brings the consumer to the heart of platinum design. From the five shortlisted designs, River Mounts’ Peka tri-set was the runaway winner, receiving almost twice as many votes as the other entries.
Design and Operations Manager Manoj Parmar commented that they had been overwhelmed by the response from retailers at the show.
