Jewels by Preeti was a dazzling show at India’s IIJW

MUMBAI, August 20, 2012 – From doctor to designer was quite a diversion, but Preeti Jain’s collection called “Jewels by Preeti” was one of the most scintillating offerings at the India International Jewellery Week 2012.

Preeti’s collection at the show told a story all its own, as each piece came down the ramp. Bringing together a perfect amalgamation of the best gems in the world like rubies, sapphires, emeralds and diamonds, both cut and uncut, the collection was a great blend of traditional and contemporary designs.

Aimed at the intelligent woman of the 21st century, the jewellery was layered to perfection with finish and style. Working with varied settings, Preeti allowed the glitter of gems to be in the foreground. Adding on practical lightweight jewellery for working women, Preeti had fine pieces in Polki or uncut diamonds in 22 and 18 carat with regal Meenakari work.

A draped clutch of diamonds, a collar sprinkled with rubies and florets with emerald centres for a pendant, revealed Preeti’s creative streak. The flat broad bow was an interesting eye catcher for the diamond necklace, while the plunging, glittering necklace with rubies, white and yellow diamonds caressed the neck of the model.

Some more stunning pieces included sapphires that added character to the shell shaped motifs of an impressive necklace. The pink tourmalines smocked with touches of gleaming white diamonds, the Meenakari Polki tiered earrings and necklace were a perfect blend of the past and present. Rubelites and rubies edged chandeliers and necklaces but the high collars with V shaped prongs ended in large ruby drops. Chokers circled around the slender model’s neck in a profusion of Polkis as South Sea pearls edged the ornament.
